Lost Creek Packs got its start by cavers and remains primarily a caver's company. Have a look at our product line!
Our line of TAG packs,
the most popular pack we sell.
Named for the incredible caving region at the junction of Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia, this series of packs has become the standard for cavers. The TAG, which is 11”x 19”x4.5”, is large enough to carry both horizontal and vertical caving gear for most trips. The Mini-TAG which is 16”x11”x4.5”, is the same cross section as the TAG but a little shorter while the Monster-TAG is a little longer and thicker. The Monster-TAG, which is 22”x11”x6”, is a good choice for cavers who need a little extra room for longer trips or to carry photographic gear or dig implements. Comes with two adjustable packstraps.
The Flint Ridge pack.
The Flint Ridge is one of the most popular Lost Creek packs. This is often a new caver’s first caving pack. As their needs change they may move up to a TAG or to the Cumberland, but they’ll find that they continue to use their trusty Flint Ridge for many purposes. The Flint Ridge is long enough to carry a standard 6 bar rappel rack. The pack measures 19” long by 7” wide by 4” thick. It holds either a normal complement of caving gear or a normal vertical rig. Comes with two adjustable packstraps.
This pack is an update of the original Fritsch pack designed as a custom pack for a group of cavers from Missouri. By popular demand it is being produced once again with a few improvements over the original. The Missouri pack is made completely of a double thickness of tough ballistic nylon. It is 8” high by 10” wide by 5.5” thick at its thickest point. It has two inside pockets and the fold over flap has an 8” by 12” Velcro closed pocket which is large enough to hold a standard survey book. Comes with two adjustable packstraps.
The Cumberland and the Cumberland Maxi.
The Cumberland pack measures 15” high by 13” wide by 4.5” thick. It opens wide for easy access to all contents. This pack is intended to be worn as a side pack, but can also be worn as a backpack. It closes with the standard “throat” closure and the top folds down with three “fastex” buckles.
The Cumberland Maxi is similar to the Cumberland but larger. Measures 18” high by 13” wide by 6.5” thick. It also has an extra pocket in the back to hold a foam pad (not included) or other flat items.
The Little Wildcat.
Here’s the perfect little pack for short trips or ridgewalking, or as a pack for young cavers. It measures 14” high by 14” wide by 3” across the bottom. The Little Wildcat opens wide, making it easy to find things. The lip of the pack closes with Velcro then rolls down and fastens with two “Fastex” buckles. This pack has two inside pockets and comes with one adjustable packstrap (additional packstraps can be ordered separately).
The Buddy Pack.
The Buddy Pack was designed for light caving such as is found in the Garrison Chapel Valley in Indiana. Measuring 10” tall by 7” wide by 3” thick it is just right for short trips in horizontal caves. The pack is designed to be worn on the belt or with an optional adjustable shoulder strap (sold separately). Closure is with a drawstring throat and a top flap closing with Velcro.
Survey Pouch.
Made of tough nylon ballistic to withstand the rigors of caving as well as geology fieldwork, this compact pouch keeps standard survey books or steno pads secure and convenient. The top flap has Velcro all of the way around for an extra tight closure. Separate sleeves for pens, pencils, protractors, and other small items. Wide belt loops on the back and D rings which can be used with our standard packstraps give a number of carrying options. 9.5” tall by 8” wide.
The Gorilla Pack.
Inspired by and tested in the Lechuguilla Project, the Gorilla Pack measures 25” high by 12” wide by 6.5” thick. It has the same features as the Monster TAG but is wider and thicker and has an additional inside pocket at the back to accommodate a foam pad (not included). The Gorilla Pack closes with three Fastex buckles. Comes with two adjustable packstraps. Padded straps are optional.
The Huautla Pack.
The Huautla Pack was designed for the Huautla Project in Mexico, but we’ve found it to be useful whenever large amounts of gear need to be hauled under difficult conditions. It is especially useful when a combination of dragging, backpacking, and vertical hauling are involved, such as in Ellison’s Cave (it can hold a 700’ rope easily). The Huautla Pack, made of ballistic nylon with a double thickness in the bottom, is cylindrical in shape and is 35” high by 14.5” in diameter. It has a throat with drawstring closure plus a heavier drawcord around the top of the pack. The Huautla Pack has compression straps, padded packstraps, and haul handles at the top, on the sides, and on the bottom.
Standard Coveralls.
Designed for cavers who take it further out than most, these coveralls are especially good for wet caving or cave rescue. Made from 600 Denier polyester, these coveralls are abrasion resistant, yet pliable enough to allow freedom of movement. The design minimizes top-stitching (top-stitching can rub off during hard caving and allow seams to open) and critical seams are double stitched. Special features include a front double closure consisting of a heavy duty two way zipper protected by a Velcro closed flap. The extra-long zipper allows for easy on and off. A shoulder pleat allows for easy movement. A breast pocket with Velcro closure keeps small important items close at hand. The knee is armored with 1000 Denier nylon and is designed as a pocket that can accommodate a foam pad (pad not included, wetsuit material is recommended). Finally, we really cover your ass with an armored butt-kit, another layer of 1000 denier nylon.
Deluxe Coveralls.
The Deluxe version adds a hood that cleverly stores inside the collar, inside belt loops, another chest pocket and a left wrist pocket, knee pad tightening straps, and Velcro cuff closures.
Lost Creek Duffels are handsome enough to carry your clothing on a business trip and durable enough to haul all of your gear to the ends of the Earth. Made from water repellent, abrasion resistant nylon ballistic with heavy duty zippers with rain flap, these duffels will help keep your gear safe. Straps and handles are made from seatbelt webbing and the handles are continuous around the bag for added strength. Available in 5 sizes, with or without zippered end pockets. An adjustable shoulder strap is sold separately. The Executive is designed to fit in an airline overhead compartment.
Rope Bags
Our rope bags all come with a drawcord top with a barrel lock and two top handles. The Medium rope bag comes with an adjustable shoulder strap. The Large and the Extra Large have adjustable backstraps and the Extra-Extra Large come with padded backstraps and a sternum strap. All rope bags have a large grommet in the bottom to allow the end of the rope to be fed through. We can special make a small diameter version of any of our sizes. We will also custom make rope bags that fit your special requirements.
We make different types and
sizes of battery packs to fit your needs. Our small pack will fit Justrite,
Easter Seal, FX2, square 6volt lantern batteries and more! Closes by folding
over and fastened with a “Fastex” buckle. The medium pack was designed to hold
“Gates” cells, but can hold many other batteries as well including most 4amp
gel-cells. The large pack was designed to hold a Wheat Lamp battery, but will
fit the Nite Lite large battery, or you can put a smaller battery and a backup
light source in it. The medium and large have a hinged lid which closes
securely over the top. We make a sling which fits the small and the medium and
allows the packs to be worn on the side.
The large day pack is ideal for humping your gear to the cave. It’s large enough to carry your cave pack, helmet, coveralls, and short rope. Designed to be simple and rugged there are no internal or external frames to be damaged or take up space in the vehicle, and the tough nylon ballistic is water repellent and machine washable. In addition to a drawstring closure at the top of the main compartment, there is a strap fastened by a Fastex buckle to secure a coil of rope under the top flap. This flap has a roomy, zippered pocket, good for allowing fast access to small items. The Large Day Pack also has padded backstraps, a padded waist strap, a top haul loop, four lashing patches, and a removable foam pad in the back. 20” high by 13” wide by 10” thick.
These handy bags are just the ticket for hauling mud and rock out of your favorite dig! No mucking around with buckets, these bags really work, especially in tights, nasty situations. Handles on the top and bottom give you maximum flexibility in how to haul, and a stiffened rim keeps the mouth open for easy loading. Measures 12” high by 12” diameter.
These self-storing rope pads are tough and light weight. A built-in pocket holds the rolled up pad and cord. Close with a carabiner and it won’t unroll even when carried outside of your pack. Approximately 8” wide.
The BreakAway is designed for applications where you need to hold something securely but be able to remove it with minimal fuss. This Velcro device is useful for securing all sorts of things limited only by the imagination! Break away strength is adjusted by how far in the Loop Velcro is inserted. The necklace is designed to allow a flashlight carried around the neck to be removed more easily, and to break away to help prevent injury in the event the necklace gets snagged. Or, the neck cord can be cut and the ends tied to whatever you want. Regular BreakAways are useful for attaching a Quick Attachment Safety to the accessory loop of a seat harness for rapid deployment. Once fastened, all that is needed to remove an item is to give it a yank! This device is not recommended to be the sole attachment point for any critical item (such as your car keys!)
